Immune Boosting Ginger Broccoli Bowl

Did you know that the large intestine manufactures 95% of your body’s serotonin? However, stress, antibiotics, toxins and leaky gut can lead to imbalances in the large intestine and cause rapid aging, allergies, rashes, anxiety, weight gain, and toxic overload. When the large intestine is out of balance, serotonin production suffers and therefore, so does your mood.

Take the bite out of winter blues with this warming ginger broccoli bowl.  If you like this recipe, it is just one of over 200+ gluten-free, nutrition packed recipes found in our Whole Food Whole Body Cleanse.

Immune Boosting Ginger Broccoli Bowl

SERVES 2

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 2 large carrots, chopped

  • 1 large beet, sliced

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1 bunch broccoli, chopped

  • 1 avocado

  • 1 handful pumpkin seeds

  • Orange Vinaigrette (recipe below)

Melt coconut oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. When the oil has melted, add onion, carrots, and the beet. Sauté until soft (about 10 minutes). You may need to add about a ¼ cup of water and cover to help the cooking process. Once the carrots and beet start to become tender, add ginger, garlic, and chopped broccoli. Again, add another ¼ cup of water and cover to aid the cooking process if needed. Once the broccoli is bright green and tender (about 3 to 5 minutes), remove the mixture from the heat and serve in bowls. Top with sliced avocado, pumpkin seeds, and Orange Vinaigrette. Serve with your choice of protein.

Orange Vinaigrette

  • Juice of 2 large oranges

  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a bowl or closed jar. Whisk with a fork--or shake if using a jar--until well incorporated. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
